Out Of The Depths (Psalm 130)

1) Out of the depths, O God, we call to you.
Wounds of the past remain, affecting all we do.
Facing our lives, we need your love so much.
Here in this community, heal us by your touch.

2) Out of the depths of fear, O God, we speak.
Breaking the silences, the searing truth we seek.
Safe among friends, our grief and rage we share.
Here in this community, hold us in your care.

3) God of the loving heart, we praise your name.
Dance through our lives and loves; anoint with Spirit flame.
Your light illumines each familiar face.
Here in this community, meet us with your grace.

Paraphrase of Psalm 130

Text: Ruth Duck (1992)
Tune: FENNVILLE 10.12.10.12, by Robert J. Batastini (1994)

Eye Has Not Seen (Marty Haugen)

.

Refrain:
Eye has not seen,
ear has not heard
what God has ready
for those who love him;
Spirit of love, come,
give us the mind of Jesus,
teach us the wisdom of God.
(1) When pain and sorrow weigh us down,
be near to us, O Lord,
forgive the weakness of our faith,
and bear us up within your peaceful word. (Refrain)

(2) Our lives are but a single breath,
we flower and we fade,
yet all our days are in your hands,
so we return in love what love has made. (Refrain)

(3) To those who see with eyes of faith,
the Lord is ever near,
reflected in the faces
of all the poor and lowly of the world. (Refrain)

(4) We sing a mystery from the past
in halls where saints have trod,
yet ever new the music rings
to Jesus, Living Song of God. (Refrain)

Center of My Life (Paul Inwood)

Refrain:
O Lord, you are the center of my life
I will always praise you
I will always serve you
I will always keep you in my sight
Keep me safe O God, I take refuge in you.
I say to the Lord "You are my God,
My happiness lies in you alone,
My happiness lies in you alone." (Refrain)

I will bless you, Lord, you give me counsel,
And even at night direct my heart.
I keep you, Lord, ever in my sight
Since you are at my right I shall stand firm. (Refrain)

And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad
Even in safety shall my body rest
For you will not leave my soul among the dead,
Nor let your beloved know decay. (Refrain)

You will show me the path of life,
The fullness of joy in your presence,
At your right hand, at your right hand
Happiness forever. (Refrain)

O God, You Search Me And You Know Me (Bernadette Farrell)

O God, you search me and you know me.
All my ways lie open to your gaze.
When I walk or lie down, you go before me:
Ever the maker and keeper of my days.

You know my resting and my rising.
You discern my purpose from afar,
and with love everlasting you besiege me:
In ev'ry moment of life or death, you are.

Before a word is on my tongue, Lord,
you have known its meaning through and through.
You are with me beyond my understanding:
God of my present, my past and future too.

Although your Spirit is upon me,
still I search for shelter from your light.
There is nowhere on earth I can escape you:
Even the darkness is radiant in your sight.

For you created me and shaped me,
gave me life within my mother's womb.
For the wonder of who I am, I praise you:
Safe in your hands, all creation is made new.

You Have Called Us (Bernadette Farrell)

Refrain
You have called us by our name. We belong to you.
You have called us by our name and we are yours.
1. You have chosen us to be members of your family.
In your love you have created us to live in unity.

2. You will lead us to your light, walk before us through the night.
You will guide us on our journey. You will keep our vision bright.

3. You will hold us when we fall, give new strength to hear your call.
You will never be beyond us, for your love is all in all.

4. You will nourish, you will lead, giving ev’ry gift we need,
for your reign will be established from the smallest of all seeds.

5. Through our sharing here today may our faith and life convey
Christ our light and Christ our vision, Christ our purpose, Christ our way.
