Ihr Kinderlein kommet (Germany)

Ihr Kinderlein kommet, o kommet doch all’!
Zur Krippe her kommet in Bethlehems Stall,

Da liegt es - ach Kinder! - auf Heu und auf Stroh;
Maria und Joseph betrachten es froh;
die redlichen Hirten knien bethend davor,
hoch oben schwebt jubelnd der Engelein Chor.

Manch Hirtenkind trägt wohl mit freudigem Sinn,
Milch, Butter und Honig nach Bethlehem hin;
ein Körblein voll Früchte, das purpurroth glänzt,
ein Schnee-weißes Lämmchen mit Blumen bekränzt.

O bethet: Du liebes, Du göttliches Kind
was leidest Du alles für unsere Sünd’!

Was geben wir Kinder, was schenken wir Dir,

So nimm unsre Herzen zum Opfer denn hin;

Music: Johann Abraham Peter Schulz (1794)

Hang Bê-lem

Hang Bê-lem

Thiên chúa vinh danh chúng dân an hòa

Ngày nay thiên chúa giáng sinh ra chốn gian trần
Người đem ân phúc xuống cho muôn dân lầm than
Nơi hang Bê lem tiếng lừa thở hơi
Tan giá đêm đông ấm thân con người.

O Antiphons (Healey Willan) [excerpts]

O ADONAI

O Adonai, et Dux domus Israel,
qui Moysi in igne flammae rubi apparuisti,
et ei in Sina legem dedisti:
veni ad redimendum nos in brachio extento.

O Lord Eternal and Leader of the house of Israel,
who didst appear to Moses in the fire of the burning bush
and didst give the Law to him in Sinai,
come to redeem us by Thine outstretched arm.

O RADIX JESSE

O Radix Jesse, qui stas in signum populorum,
super quem continebunt reges os suum,
quem gentes deprecabuntur:
veni ad liberandum nos, iam noli tardare.

O Root of Jesse, who standest for an ensign of the people,
before whom kings shall keep their silence,
to whom the nations shall offer their petitions,
come to deliver us; wait not any longer.

O ORIENS

O Oriens, splendor lucis aeternae,
et sol iustitiae: veni,
et illumina sedentes
in tenebris et umbra mortis.

O Rising Orb of day, Splendor of Light Eternal,
and Sun of Righteousness,
come and enlighten those who sit in darkness,
and in the shadow of death

O EMMANUEL

O Emmanuel, Rex et legifer noster,
exspectatio gentium, et Salvator earum:
veni ad salvandum nos Domine Deus noster.

O Emmanuel, Our king and lawgiver,
For whom the nations wait, their holy Savior:
Come, O Lord our God, be our salvation.

Salva Nos, Stella Maris

Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum

Que pura deum paris
Salva nos, stella maris
Et per rubum signaris
Nesciens viri thorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum

O virgo specialis
Salva nos, stella maris
Sis nobis salutaris
Imperatrix caelorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum

Tu mater expers paris
Salva nos, stella maris
Manna celeste paris
Et panem angelorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina celorum

O parens expers maris
Salva nos, stella maris
Partu non violaris
Paris sanctum sanctorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina celorum

Celeste manna paris
Salva nos, stella maris
Lux cecis, dux ignaris
Solamen angelorum
Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum

Salva nos, stella maris
Et regina caelorum

O tagaigí is adhraigí
An leanbh cneasta sa chró ‘na luí
Is cuimhnigí ar ghrá an Rí
A thug dar saoradh anocht an naí
A Mhuire Mháthair i bParas Dé
Ar chlann bhocht Eabha
Guí anois go séimh
Is doras an chró ná dún go deo
G n-adhraím feasta Mac Rí na hÓighe

I mBeithil thoir i lár na hoíche
Ba chlos an dea-scéal d’aoirí
Go follas don tsaol san spéir go binn
Bhí aingil ag canadh ó rinn go rinn
Gluaisigí go beo, duirt aingil Dé
Go Beithil sall is gheobhaith sibh é
‘Na luí go ciúin i mainséar tuí

Blessed be that Maid Mary

Blessed be that maid Marie;
Born he was of her body;
Very God ere time began,
Born in time the Son of Man.
Eya! Ihesus hodie
Natus est de Virgine.

In a manger of an ass
Jesu lay and lullèd was;
Born to die upon the Tree
Pro pecante homine.
Eya! Ihesus hodie
Natus est de Virgine.

Seet and blissful was the song
Chanted of the angel throng;
'Peace on earth, alleluya!
In excelsis gloria.'
Eya! Ihesus hodie
Natus est de Virgine.

Fare three kings from far-off land,
Incense, gold, and myrrh in hand;
In Bethlem the Babe they see,
Stelle ducti lumine.
Eya! Ihesus hodie
Natus est de Virgine.

Make we merry on this fest,
In quo Christus natus est;
On this Child I pray you call,
To assoil and save us all.
Eya! Ihesus hodie
Natus est de Virgine.

Text: 15th century English Carol from MS. Sloan 2593, fol. 51, v0
